报告摘要:A big ministorage fire lasting for 108 hours occurred on 21 June 2016 in HongKong which killed two firefighters. Fire investigation were carried out by Computationa Fluid Dynamics (CFD) without clear indication with systematic full-scale burning tests.Because of storing so much combustibles in limited space, there challenges on the predicted results. Free CFD software is commonly used and there is no guarantee that the software isappropriate for simulating such big fires, Intermediate combustion reactions, thermal radiation and turbulence should be modeled properly with experimental supports. Problems identified in the application of CFD in simulating big enclosure fires will be discussed.

报告人简介:Professor Wai-ki Chow is a Fellow ofthe Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences and a Justice of the Peace. He is Emeritus Professor of Architectural Science and Fire Engineering at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University,Principal Advisor andDistinguished Chair Professor in Aviation Safety at the Civil Aviation Flight University ofChina. Prof. Chow is a board member of the International Association for Fire Safety Scienceand President of the Asia-Oceania Association for Fire Science and Technology. Professor Chow's research focuses on building science, fire safety engineering, and safety science.周允基,香港工程科学院院士,香港太平绅士,香港理工大学建筑科学及消防工程荣休教授,中国民用航空飞行学院校长顾问及航空安全特聘讲席教授。国际火灾科学学会理事,亚澳火灾科学技术学会主席。其研究聚焦建筑科学、消防及安全科学工程领域。
